Two Things I hear Too Often

1. "You've got your hands full."

What is a person supposed to say to that? "Thank you for stating the obvious. Your hair looks funny." I usually try to reply with something positive like, "These are great kids." Then at least my children are hearing something positive 25 times a day. Seriously, I don't know if people know how to say anything else. If you say this, please try something new. Be creative. Or don't say anything at all. One would think my children were constantly running wild and I was in a frazzle, but on the whole, I think we do O.K. A couple of days ago, we were walking out of Barne's and Noble and I had a surge of excitement go through me because no one had said, "You sure have your hands full." Just then a lady came walking through the door, and you can guess what she said.

2. Chairs sliding accross the kitchen floor

My intelligent boys have figured out just how to work the system. Whenever I have to attend to Charlotte's needs upstairs those chairs start moving all over the kitchen. They move to the sink, they move to the cupboards, and to the freezer. The other day Anson had two chairs stacked on top of eachother to reach the suckers. I always wonder what I'm going to come downstairs and see.

Here are some photos from today. It was a beautiful day.

Next time someone says something like that to me I'm going to say, "I do, here can you take this....and make them carry whatever I'm shopping for!"

I don't go out much, especially with my kids, so I don't imagine I'll have that opportunity anytime soon.

Krista- this made me laugh so hard! I get the same thing! All those great comments we get as mom's. I get, "Wow, she's busy" (comment about my oldest daughter) all the time too. I just smile, "Yep, she's 2 and what a blessing." Your kids are so beautiful Krista! Look at those eyes on your little girl! They are to die for. What a cute little family you have. Hey, me too. I hear it ALL the time. I should start responding positively like you do. I usually respond something like this "yep, I sure do but we have lots of fun!"
