Welcoming Charlotte Kay Cook

Here are some pictures of our sweet, strong, and happy Charlotte Kay. She was born on October 29th at 1:13 p.m. She weighed 9 lbs. and was 21 in. She is precious. We are delighted that she has joined our family. She was born at home, which was a wonderful experience. Glen was such a great companion, and the midwives were perfect for us. Many of you have wondered why we chose to have her at home. I will briefly explain:

1. Glen and I studied and prayed, and felt it was the best decision for our family.
2. There were no hospitals in California willing to allow us a trial of labor after two c-sections (although research has shown that the risk of uterine rupture is probably close to 0% if labor is not induced or augmented. I can send anyone who is interested all kinds of articles that we have collected regarding VBAC's)
3. We found competent midwives we trusted, and found in our studies that home births are as safe as hospital births.

Anson and Hiram got their "sis." Anson was sure it was a sister from the first time we told him we were going to have another baby. We waited to find out, and were happy to report to the boys that they had a sister, just like they hoped. I have no idea how I am going to be a mother of three now, but I know Heavenly Father blesses us, and makes us equal to our task. I will definitely need His help. Thank you again to all who included us in their prayers.

Wow Kirista, She is beautiful! I didn't know you had two C-section. My first one was a c-section and I am hoping to have a VBACK this time. Washington wouldn't even allow you to try and have a VABCK after the first so I am grateful we moved to Arizona. Well congrautlations on having a succeful BVACK

I missed the announcement in your posts that you were pregnant but wondered...Do you think you would have done a home birth with your background if Glen was not an MD? did he have his black bag ready?

She's cute! I had a vbac too! Having a normal birth is much better than having a c-section. I had to drive to Tucson with Page to get a vbac but it was worth it!
You're pretty brave to do it at home. None of the hospitals in your area do vbacs? Well, congrats on having a girl. After 4 boys myself, having a girls has been so much fun.

Krista!!!!!! I still haven't been able to talk to you! I have been waiting to give you some time. I know how a lot of phone call right after you have a baby. And not only that...you've got 3 cute little monkeys now!! I love you sooooooooooooo much! I am so happy for you! She is beautiful. Sorry the hat is a little small. My idea of newborn is a little off I guess. It's crazy how fast you forget. Love you! give her loves from her Aunt Lisa! I have her blanket too. We'll send it sometime this week.
