Our summer has ended happily and we are welcoming the arrival of fall. The leaves are changing color here in the D.C. area and it has become jacket‐wearing weather. In August, we had the joy of traveling to Utah to be present for our sister Mary Kate’s wedding to Tom. We are so happy to have him joining our family and we are joyous in their preparation to be married and sealed in the temple. Krista’s big adventure for August came in running the Ragnar relay here in D.C. – or rather, from over 200 miles outside of D.C. into the city. She and eleven other women piled into two vans and spent two days straight taking turns running, driving, and supporting each other along the course. She did great, as always! The boys started their “school year” in the middle of August. Anson is doing a homebased curriculum, and has been particularly enjoying math and ancient history. The 6 by 4 foot timeline we made has continued to fall off of our family room wall. I’m sure that’s not the greatest challenge we will face in our children’s education. Anson was promoted to yellow belt in Tae Kwon Do last week. He was also presented a trophy for being an outstanding student. Hiram is attending a preschool twice per week. He is beginning to read on his own and has been really excited to read or color or engage in any activity associated with ancient Egypt. He is an enthusiastic dancer and continues to have a warm heart and an engaging smile. He has also been working every week to memorize and pass off with our bishop an Article of Faith. Charlotte’s language abilities are blossoming, as her ability to exert her independence. She does a good job of keeping her two big brothers in check and is definitely a girl with her own high standards. In October we joined Mom and Dad Higginson down in Florida for a three‐day Disney World trip. We had a blast at the parks and at the Animal Kingdom Villas where we stayed (looking outside your hotel and seeing giraffes and zebras a few yards away is pretty cool), but the happiest part of the experience was seeing our kids have the opportunity to build memories and strengthen ties with their grandparents. Oh, it was also really nice not to be carrying a pager for a few days. In the past couple of months, we have also been glad to welcome the births of two more nieces: Anna Jane Durr and Goldie Jane Ford (that makes 25 nieces and nephews for anyone keeping track). We love you all and are cheering you on!
Yours faithfully,
Glen and Krista
